Universal Designation for Licensure Proposed

At the May ASLA Board of Trustees Meeting, the BOT charged the ASLA Licensure Committee to develop a policy that would identify and promote a universal designation for licensure for consideration at the October 2011 BOT meeting.  The committee has developed a proposal that will soon be reviewed by the Policy Committee in keeping with ASLA's policy development process and is expected to be considered by the BOT at its October meeting.

 Virginia Chapter Strategic Planning Retreat Held October 1st

The Virginia Chapter Executive Committee held its annual strategic planning retreat October 1 in Charlottesville.  Attending ExCom officers included Lynn Crump, Chapter Trustee; Nancy Rodrique, Past President; Rob McLeod, President Elect; Barry Frankenfield, Treasurer and President Elect for 2013; and Frank Fentress, Treasurer Elect.  We were joined by Vaughn Rinner, Executive Committee Liaison on the National ASLA Finance and Investments Committee; Terry Clements of Virginia Tech and Member of the National ASLA Policy Committee; Julie Basic of Land Planning and Design Assoc.; and Jimmy Shepherd of Shepherd Land Planning, LLC.  Plus, we enjoyed the superior assistance of Mary Kidd, our new Chapter Administrator.

The session began with taking stock of major accomplishments since October 2010.  Progress on the goals and objectives set out for 2011 was noted as follows:
