Exceptional Landscape Architecture Students Recognized for Their Leadership, Creativity, and Performance.

The Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (VAASLA) awarded Julia Price, a landscape architecture student at the University of Virginia, and David Serpati, a landscape architecture student at Virginia Tech, the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Award during the VAASLA Spring Conference in Richmond.

Originally from Houston, Texas, David Serpati is a fourth year student at Virginia Tech working towards a Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture. David plans to complete his Master's in landscape architecture, and he is interested in community and urban design. His goal is to work with an interdisciplinary design team to create built environments that enrich the lives of others. He is excited to continue striving to create successful designs in an ever-changing global economy.

Julia Price is a second year graduate student studying landscape architecture at the University of Virginia. Her well rounded professional background including a degree in biology from U.C. Santa Cruz, winemaking in Napa Valley, and retail merchandising, ultimately led her to the field of landscape architecture. With a desire to reconnect with her roots in the field of science, she volunteered at Strybing Arboretum in Golden State Park, worked for an urban design firm and later decided to enter the landscape architecture Master's program at the University of Virginia in 2008. Her interest in the design of integrated, multifunctional infrastructure and underutilized, residual urban spaces is at the core of academic projects she has worked on concerning wastewater treatment in New Orleans, the Passaic River Remediation in Newark, and wildland fire mitigation in Southern California.
