Voice Your Support for Scenic Byways and RTP Funding

In a letter to all U.S. Senators, ASLA Executive VP Somerville thanked the Senate for working to include the Cardin/Cochran Amendment in the surface transportation reauthorization bill known as MAP-21 and urged them to move forward with further consideration of the bill. In the letter, Somerville also urged senators to work to continue dedicated funding for the Recreational Trails and National Scenic Byways programs. Under the current MAP-21, these programs would not receive dedicated funding thereby effectively eliminating them and the benefits they provide for landscape architects and thousands of communities across the nation. ASLA activated the Advocacy Network to encourage members to also contact their senators about including dedicated funding for RTP and the National Scenic Byways Program.
