December 2005: Virginia Tech Students Present Plans for Monroe Park in Richmond, Virginia

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, students of Virginia Tech’s Landscape Architecture Department presented a vision for Monroe Park, a historic promenade park in the middle of Richmond, to the Monroe Park Advisory Council and other interested people. Several VA ASLA members attended the event to encourage students and represent ASLA. The students visited Richmond in September to see the park and meet with members of the Advisory Council, representatives of the City's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities and Virginia Commonwealth University, park neighbors, and civic groups. The presentations mark the culmination of their semester-long assignment, and the Advisory Council will take into considerations their suggestions.
