The tour of the Old Donation School will highlight how the school used low Impact Development and ‘Green’ technologies to construct and academic facility and learning environment that will endure the coming years. Also to be discussed is how an interdisciplinary team made these ideas come to life in the new facility.


The Learning Objectives for this Educational Session

1. Participants will be able to identify how the building used Low Impact Design elements in the design,construction, and use of the building.
2. Participants be able to recognize different areas of storm water management facilities that allow water to infiltrate back into the groundwater.
2a. Participants will investigate areas of storm water management and discuss how the components function within the landscape.
3.Participants will investigate outdoor classroom areas and discuss their function within an educational facility.
4. Participants will discuss how the interdisciplinary team (architects,landscape architects,engineers,interior designers, etc.) worked together in creating a ‘Green’ building and site design that will endure for the coming years.
