2025 Fall Symposium and Awards Celebration

Join VA ASLA in Charlottesville, Virginia to celebrate our Professional and Student Award winners, then stay for the Fall Symposium to connect, learn, and earn continuing education credits! 


The awards celebration will be held on Friday, November 14th from 4:00-7:00pm! Our Fall Symposium will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 8:00am-1:30pm. This event is hosted in collaboration with the Department of Landscape Architecture at the UVA School of Architecture.

Landscapes in a Changing World explores how the spaces we design, preserve, and inhabit are responding to the dynamic forces of our time. As we examine recent projects, this theme invites us to reflect on how historic preservation and cultural design are being reimagined not as static practices, but as adaptive strategies that honor the past while engaging with the present and preparing for a rapidly evolving future.

Session Description:
Explore how community-engaged design education empowers students and strengthens rural resilience. This session highlights two university initiatives—one partnering with Esther Manor Farm in Beaverdam, Virginia, and another focused on adaptation in coastal and rural communities through the Envision Resilience Challenge and Virginia Sea Grant Fellowship. Attendees will learn how collaborative studios, client partnerships, and nature-based design strategies create meaningful learning experiences while supporting communities facing cultural, social, and climate challenges.
